Permanent mold casting is metal casting process that employs reusable molds, usually made from
metal or sand cores. The most common process uses gravity to fill the mold, however gas pressure or
a vacuum are also used.
Tooling costs tend to be lower for Permanent Mold cast components than Pressure Die Casting
components, and in addition the level of porosity is lower as well. However per unit costs tend to be
higher since the wastage of material is also higher.
